Anchored At Home respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: email address and name when you sign up.
  • Parent profile: name, location (city, state), homeschool philosophy, faith background.
  • Child profiles: name, age, grade level, emoji avatar, and learning notes.
  • Curriculum records: subject, curriculum name, current level, and notes per child.
  • Attendance records: school days you mark as attended.
  • Daily plan items and task completions.
  • Conversations with Compass (our AI assistant).

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device information (IP address, browser type, operating system).
  • Usage data (pages viewed, features used).
  • Session authentication tokens managed by Supabase.

3. AI Provider Disclosure

Anchored At Home uses AI language models to power Compass, our AI homeschool assistant. When you send a message to Compass, the following data is transmitted to our AI provider(s):

  • Your message text.
  • Conversation history (up to the last 20 messages) for context.
  • Your parent profile: name, state, homeschool philosophy.
  • Your children's profiles: names, ages, grade levels, and curricula.
  • State homeschool law summaries relevant to your location.

Our current AI provider(s) include Google (Gemini) and Groq. Data sent to these providers is subject to their respective privacy policies and data processing terms. We do not send data to AI providers for purposes other than generating responses to your queries.

Your conversations are stored in our database (Supabase/Postgres) to provide context across sessions. You may delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes all stored data.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Anchored At Home is a tool for parents and guardians, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Child profile data (names, ages, grade levels) is entered by parents and used solely to provide relevant AI context and planning features. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

5. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Authenticate your account and secure your data.
  • Generate personalized AI responses through Compass.
  • Persist conversation history and family context across sessions.
  • Send account-related notifications (e.g., password changes).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

6. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only in these circumstances:

  • Service Providers: Supabase (database and auth), Google/Groq (AI), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data only as needed to deliver the Service.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or in response to valid legal process.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit, row-level security (RLS) policies in our database ensuring each user can only access their own data, and secure authentication via Supabase. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account from the Settings page at any time, which permanently removes your profile, child records, curricula, attendance records, and conversation history from our database.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information via the Settings page.
  • Delete your account and all associated data via the Settings page.
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to know if it is sold or disclosed (we do not sell personal information), the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

11. Cookies

We use cookies and browser storage for authentication session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
